Rotary cultivator blade repair
Rotary cultivator blades are among the most wear-prone and damage-sensitive components of the machine, and their condition directly affects the quality of soil cultivation. According to industry standards, these blades are typically made from 65Mn or 60Si2Mn steel. The cutting edge must achieve a hardness of HRC 50–55, while the shank is annealed to a lower hardness range of HRC 38–45. The thickness of the blade edge should not exceed 0.5 mm. If the edge becomes dull or the thickness exceeds this limit, the blade should be removed and sharpened on a grinding wheel. In some cases, it may be necessary to reforge the blade before sharpening. After sharpening, the blade needs to be heat-treated: it should be heated to a temperature between 800°C and 850°C, then quenched in oil or water. Finally, it should undergo tempering at 200°C to ensure proper toughness and durability. Regular inspection and maintenance of these blades are essential to maintain optimal performance and extend their service life.
