Rapeseed cake

Rapeseed meal is a widely used feed raw material in China, where the country produces the largest amount of rapeseed globally. Each year, about 6 to 7 million tons of rapeseed meal are generated. Rich in natural vegetable protein, its amino acid profile is comparable to that of soybean meal. However, it contains anti-nutritional factors such as glucosinolates, phytic acid, and tannins, which can be harmful to monogastric animals like pigs and poultry. These substances may cause toxicity and reduce palatability, making detoxification essential for safe and effective use. Detoxification methods are generally divided into three categories: physical, chemical, and biological. Physical methods mainly target the inactivation of myrosinase, an enzyme that activates glucosinolates. However, recent studies show that some gut microorganisms can also produce similar enzymes, breaking down glucosinolates into toxic byproducts. This limits the effectiveness of purely physical approaches. Chemical detoxification involves techniques like acid-base treatment, metal salt catalysis, and solvent leaching. The double liquid extraction method developed by Rubin and Diosady is one of the most researched. It achieves over 90% detoxification but suffers from high costs, dry matter loss, and environmental pollution, making it less practical for large-scale application. Biological detoxification, on the other hand, uses either enzymatic hydrolysis or microbial fermentation. Enzymatic methods involve adding activators like vitamin C to enhance the breakdown of glucosinolates, followed by solvent removal. While this approach can also eliminate phytic acid and polyphenols, it is costly and technically complex, limiting its industrial use. Microbial fermentation, however, offers a more sustainable and efficient alternative. By using specific bacterial strains, toxins can be directly broken down under mild conditions. This method is cost-effective, simple, and preserves more nutrients. For example, using a golden barb seed meal detoxifier has shown great success in improving protein content and reducing anti-nutrients. To apply this method, select raw materials like cottonseed hulls and rapeseed cakes, chop or crush them, and avoid fermenting protein feeds alone. Add a portion of corn flour or other energy sources to balance the mix and prevent mold. Then, dilute the detoxifier (typically 2%) with rice bran, corn flour, or wheat flour and mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution. Next, adjust the moisture content to between 65% and 75%. A simple test is to squeeze a handful of material—if it forms a ball without dripping water, it’s ready. Too wet or too dry will affect the fermentation process. Ideal temperatures should be above 20°C to speed up the process. Once prepared, seal the material tightly in a container, avoiding compaction. If using a plastic bag, make sure it’s airtight. Do not open or turn the material during fermentation. After completion, store the product in small sealed bags or dry it at low temperatures. Pelletizing is also an option. Finally, introduce the fermented product gradually into pig or chicken feed, starting at 40–50% of the total diet. This ensures a smooth transition and maximizes the benefits of the detoxified feed.

Natural Plant Extract

Natural Plant Extract is a kind of solid powder obtained by cleaning, extracting, concentrating and spray drying Chinese herbal fruits and vegetables, without adding any other ingredients; The effective components and essence of plants are extracted, which improves the full utilization rate of plants and is beneficial to human absorption.

The components of plant extracts can be divided into glycosides, acids, polyphenols, polysaccharides, terpenoids, flavonoids, alkaloids and so on. For example, the main component of green tea extract is tea polyphenols. Ginseng extract mainly contains a variety of ginseng monomer saponins; According to different characters, it can be divided into extract, powder, lens, etc., such as violet leaf extract, hang white chrysanthemum extract.
