Rotary cultivator blade repair

Rotary cultivator blades are among the most wear-prone and frequently damaged components of the equipment. Their condition directly affects the overall performance and quality of the cultivation work. According to technical specifications, these blades are typically made from 65Mn or 60Si2Mn steel. The cutting edge must achieve a hardness of HRC 50–55, while the shank is annealed to a lower hardness range of HRC 38–45. The thickness of the blade edge should not exceed 0.5 mm. If the edge becomes dull or the thickness goes beyond this limit, the blade should be removed for sharpening on a grinding wheel. In some cases, it may be necessary to reforge the blade before sharpening to restore its structural integrity. After sharpening, the blade must undergo heat treatment: it should be heated to a temperature between 800°C and 850°C, then quenched in oil or water. Finally, it should be tempered at 200°C to ensure optimal toughness and durability. Regular maintenance and proper heat treatment are essential to extend the service life of the blades and maintain efficient operation of the rotary cultivator.
