Gardening of meat dogs

Dogs are among the first animals to be domesticated by humans, with a long history of companionship and utility. In some cultures, dog meat is considered a nutritious food, rich in protein and low in fat, offering significant health benefits. As the economy has grown rapidly, people's living standards have improved, leading to an increased demand for dog meat. This has made dog farming a profitable and efficient agricultural activity, requiring relatively low investment and offering quick returns. The breeding process is simple and can be carried out in backyard settings or abandoned areas, either through caging or free-range methods. Dogs are omnivorous animals with strong senses of smell and hearing, making them highly alert and adaptable. They are fast runners, possess good memory, and are easy to train. On average, dogs sleep between 14 to 15 hours a day, remaining alert and active during the rest of the time. They enjoy playing, howling, and socializing. Female dogs typically reach sexual maturity at around 8 to 12 months, with breeding usually occurring in spring and autumn. A single female can give birth to about two dozen puppies per year. Meat dogs grow quickly, reaching slaughter weight within 2 to 3 months. When selecting breeding dogs, it is important to choose high-quality individuals with strong constitutions, rapid growth, good disease resistance, and stable genetic traits. Local breeds such as yellow and white dogs are often preferred for females, provided they are large, calm, and healthy. For males, fast-growing breeds like Tibetan Mastiffs, Japanese Wolf Greens, or German Shepherds are ideal due to their size, strength, and temperament. Breeding age should be appropriate—around 18 months for general use, and up to 30 months for large meat dogs. Dog breeding facilities should be located in quiet, dry, and well-ventilated areas with secure fencing. Each enclosure can house about 10 dogs, grouped according to size, sex, and temperament. Essential facilities include resting areas, play spaces, sand baths, and water baths. Dedicated staff should manage feeding, watering, and cleaning to ensure hygiene and prevent aggression or injury. Meat dogs have diverse dietary needs, including animal-based, plant-based, and mineral feeds. A balanced diet typically contains 17–25% protein, 3–7% fat, 3–4.5% crude fiber, and 44–49.5% carbohydrates. Puppies just weaned can be fed a mix of 200g meat, 300ml milk, one egg, 200g rice, 200g vegetables, 12g salt, plus cod liver oil, bone meal, calcium supplements, and digestive enzymes. Adult dogs are mainly fed vegetable-based diets, such as a mix of rice, corn, wheat bran, soybean, fishmeal, and bone meal, cooked into porridge and fed three times daily. Weekly broth and vitamins should also be included. Good management includes establishing regular habits for sleeping, eating, and defecating. Puppies should be trained to respond to signals, such as bells, to develop routines. Hygiene is essential. If necessary, hypnosis or controlled fattening techniques can be used to reduce activity and speed up weight gain. Rabies is a major concern in dogs, so all dogs must be vaccinated. Vaccination schedules typically begin at 15–30 days old, with boosters every 15 days and annual reinforcement. Regular cleaning, disinfection of enclosures, feeders, and water sources is crucial. Dogs entering the pens should be fumigated with formaldehyde, and weekly disinfection using standard agents is recommended. Monthly deworming with levamisole helps prevent parasites. Probiotics, garlic, and other additives may be used to support digestion. Close monitoring and prompt treatment of sick dogs are vital for maintaining health and preventing outbreaks.
