Spring celery field management points

In the early stages of open-field cultivation, proper watering is essential to strengthen the plants and raise the soil temperature. After transplanting seedlings, it's important to water them thoroughly but avoid overwatering. Once the soil is moist, loosen it promptly to improve aeration and root development. When the plants reach about 30 cm in height, apply a combination of water and fertilizer. You can use 25 kg of ammonium sulfate or 15 kg of urea per mu. Apply the fertilizer immediately after watering to ensure nutrients are absorbed effectively. From this point on, maintain consistent moisture without allowing the soil to dry out. Water every 3 to 5 days initially, then gradually reduce the interval to every 2 days. Keep the soil consistently moist until harvest. You may also choose to side-dress with fertilizer once or twice during the growing period for added nourishment. For facility cultivation using large, medium, and small arch greenhouses, it's crucial to seal and insulate the structure during the initial planting phase. Avoid ventilating unless necessary. The internal temperature should be maintained around 25°C. Once the heart leaves begin to turn green, lower the temperature to approximately 20°C. If the temperature exceeds 25°C, ventilate to prevent heat stress. As outdoor temperatures rise, increase ventilation by lifting the ends of the plastic film and opening the sides. On sunny days when the daytime temperature ranges between 18°C and 20°C, remove the plastic cover completely during the day, but keep it on at night unless there’s a cold snap. After the frost season has passed, remove the small greenhouses on cloudy mornings or evenings when light is low. Maintain daytime temperatures between 22°C and 25°C, and nighttime temperatures between 10°C and 15°C. When the plants grow to 33–35 cm, apply both water and fertilizer together. Be sure to uncover the plastic film before applying fertilizer. Water the plants once after fertilizing, then continue watering every three to four days to keep the soil moist until harvest. Avoid using diluted manure close to harvest time. If boron deficiency is observed, apply 0.5–0.75 kg of borax per acre. Additionally, spray 55–50 mg/kg of gibberellin once or twice daily before harvest to promote growth and fruit development.
