Drugs containing stimulant ingredients should be filed with the drug regulatory authority
The Beijing Olympics will guarantee effective management of drug-based stimulants, according to information shared at the Olympic Drug Safety and Doping Control Conference organized by the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA). The SFDA has emphasized that all pharmaceutical manufacturers must proactively conduct internal inspections. Any products containing stimulants—whether single-ingredient or combination formulations—must strictly follow the "Drug Instructions and Label Management Regulations." These products should clearly display the warning "Use with caution" on their packaging or instructions, and the relevant information must be promptly submitted to provincial food and drug regulatory authorities.
Additionally, it was reported that from March to June 2008, the SFDA will hold on-site meetings in the host cities of the Beijing Olympics to monitor and ensure the progress of doping control efforts. This initiative aims to strengthen oversight and prevent any misuse of performance-enhancing substances during the Games. By implementing these measures, China is demonstrating its commitment to maintaining a fair and safe environment for athletes participating in the Olympic event.
