You must be careful when you feed your pigs

Quails, often referred to as ground dragons, Qufu, or Quzhou snakes, are highly nutritious and rich in protein, making them an excellent feed for pigs and poultry. When properly managed, they can enhance meat production in pigs and increase egg yield in chickens. However, improper feeding practices can lead to serious health issues in animals, resulting in losses. Therefore, it is crucial to handle quail feeding with care. One of the major concerns when feeding quails is the risk of transmitting diseases. For example, pork can carry tuberculosis and asthma in pigs. The nematodes responsible for porcine lung roundworm disease include long-spotted larvae, short-backward larvae, and retro-spotted worms. These parasites rely on pupae as intermediate hosts, and a single larva can carry hundreds of nematodes, posing a significant threat. Additionally, lung mite larvae can cause pig asthma, leading to double infections that are even more harmful to the animals. Cockroaches are also a source of parasitic diseases in poultry. There are four main types: tracheal nematode disease, ringworm nematode disease, chicken spinosad, and wedge-shaped tapeworm disease. Each of these causes different symptoms, such as malnutrition, weight loss, reduced egg production, and even neurological problems. All of these diseases are spread by ticks, highlighting the importance of tick control in poultry farms. To prevent tick-borne diseases, several measures should be taken. First, all fleas and parasites must be quarantined, and any eggs, cysts, or larvae should be disposed of immediately to prevent breeding. Second, feeding quails should avoid using untreated animal dung, as it may contain harmful pathogens. Third, parasite eggs and cysts are sensitive to high temperatures, so all feed must be thoroughly cooked before being given to livestock. Even dead animals should be heated to ensure that no viable eggs remain. Fourth, if any of these diseases are detected, infected animals must be isolated immediately to stop the spread. Finally, regular health checks and quarantine protocols are essential for early detection and timely intervention. By following these guidelines, farmers can significantly reduce the risk of parasitic infections and maintain the health and productivity of their livestock.
