Ornamental gourd cultivation techniques

1. Sowing seedlings

Ornamental gourd adaptability is very strong, and the soil and air temperature requirements are not high. The suitable temperature for growth is 20-25°C. In order to extend the viewing period, protective cultivation is generally adopted. Planting time according to the climatic conditions to grasp the good sowing time, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River using protective cultivation, from the end of January to August can be sown, but the spring and autumn two seasons cultivation. The soil used for sowing should be loosened to protect fertilizer and water. Stir well and put it in the sowing tray. Fill it with hands and smooth it with water.

Select seed sown seeds sown. Due to the thick seed coat of ornamental gourd seeds, poor water absorption, should be soaked with warm water 30°C before sowing, small gourd seeds soaked for 3 to 4 hours, the seeds of long handle gourd, crane head gourd and swan gourd soak for 7-8 hours So that the seeds fully absorb water. Then drain and remove the seeds.

Seeding can be used for seeding or sowing. Usually, more seedlings are sown. The seed tip is inserted into the seeding disc one by one. The spacing is 5 centimeters, and the pellet distance is 3 to 5 centimeters. After the broadcast, the cover soil is 1 to 1.5 centimeters, covered with straw, Moisturize, water 2 to 3 times, so as not to emerge seedlings. Seed germination temperature is 30 ~ 35 °C, covered plastic film insulation, moisturizing, is conducive to the germination of the seed. July and August sowing, when the temperature is higher, need to cover the shade net, cooling seedlings. Usually 3 to 4 days after sowing, the seeds begin to germinate and unearth, and the plastic film is peeled off in time to remove the non-shedded seed shells that are on the cotyledons. The nursery process controls watering as much as possible to prevent leggy seedlings from growing. After 7 to 10 days, the cotyledons are fully opened and can be transplanted into the nutritional bowl.

The culture soil of the nutrient clams requires no bacteria, loose fertility, and sieved off the gravel and coarse-grained soil, and put it into a 12-cm-diameter nutrient bowl, placing neatly and pouring water. The young seedlings are gently removed from the sowing tray and transplanted into the nutritional bowl. The planting should not be too deep so as not to affect the growth of the root system. After planting water, cover the shade net. Small seedling stage should pay attention to moisturizing, spraying at the same time, spraying with hymexazol 3000 ~ 4000 times, to prevent root rot and rotten sputum. Spray 10% imidacloprid 2000 times once a week to prevent aphid damage. When the leaves of the young seedlings come into contact with each other, the nutrients are moved to increase the spacing and avoid lengthiness.

2. Colonization

Ornamental gourd has wide adaptability to soil and grows better in slightly acidic soil, but it can't have water accumulation. When planting, choose sandy loam or clay loam with deep soil, fertile soil, and good drainage. Thirty centimeters of deep soil surface before planting, plough the soil and flatten the ground. As the ornamental gourd has a long growing period and strong fertility tolerance, it is necessary to apply a full-time base fertilizer. Generally, 2000 kg per mu of cooked barnyardgrass, 50 kg of superphosphate and 150 kg of plant ash are used as the base fertilizer.

One week before planting, the scorpion was well-grounded. The scorpion was 1.5 to 2 meters wide, 0.3 meters high, and 0.4 to 0.5 meters wide. Where conditions permit, it is best to use matrix cultivation. The matrix can be mixed with 8 garden soils plus 2 parts of rotting pig manure plus 1 part of ash. Using a brick or foam board to form a simple cultivation tank, the groove width is 60-80 cm, and the depth is 30 cm. The bottom is covered with a film and the tank is poured into the matrix. Disinfect the soil with carbendazim 1000 times solution.

When the seedlings in the nutrient pods grow to 4-6 true leaves, they can be planted. The selection of the seedlings is conducted from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on sunny days. Remove the seedlings from the nutrient cartridges to avoid damaging the roots. Dig a hole in the lotus root, 1 plant per hole, with a plant spacing of 0.5 to 1.5 meters. After the planting, the root water is poured and the seedlings are not ventilated. In the spring, the small arch sheds are used to raise the temperature, so that the seedlings are rooted early, and the seedlings are soothed early. During the day, the shelf temperature should be maintained at 25 to 30°C and at night at 18 to 20°C. When the greenhouse temperature exceeds 30°C at noon on sunny days, the skirt film on both sides of the greenhouse is opened for ventilation. After 3 days, the seedlings have been easing and the small shed can be removed. Daytime greenhouse temperature control at 20 ~ 25 °C, 12 ~ 15 °C at night, promote plant root development. 3. Fertilizer management

Ornamental gourd has many results and requires a large amount of fertilizer. The main nitrogen fertilizer was applied in the early stage, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers were applied during the flowering period. After planting, some fertilizer should be applied in a timely manner, mainly by decomposed cake fertilizer or ternary compound fertilizer. Before the vines are put on the shelves, a top dressing is carried out. The top dressing is preferably around the roots of the plants. Digging holes are applied or directly applied to the topsoil. The amount of fertilizer is 20 kg per mu, which lays a foundation for nutrition. When the melon grows to 3 or 4 cm in diameter, a second topdressing is performed. Dig a hole 20 centimeters around the root and apply 30 kilograms per acre to promote the enlargement of the fruit. After every top dressing, loose soil should be cultivated to keep the soil loose, which is conducive to root growth. At the same time combined with foliar spray, with 0.4% ~ 0.5% of potassium dihydrogen phosphate, once every 15 days. Small gourds should be applied thinly, and long-handled gourds and cranes should grow vigorously. In the early stages, vegetative growth must be strictly controlled to prevent leggy and affect the fruit setting rate.

Ornamental gourds have different water requirements at each growth stage, and once after planting, they will be used as a wading seedling to promote easing of seedlings. Retarded to control the watering before sitting in the melon. In agricultural parks, in order to facilitate management and save water, drip irrigation is generally used. Plastic pipes are laid on the edges of the plants. Water flows directly from the micro-holes of the hose and penetrates into the soil around the plant rhizosphere to meet the plant water requirement. The ground temperature will be lowered due to watering, and the amount of watering is also easy to control. Flowering period is generally not watering, prompting smooth fruit setting, after fruit set, in the period of fruiting guava to pouring enough water to ensure the full growth and development of fruit. Water hyacinth generally follow the principle of “do not dry, pour is poured”. When the moisture is insufficient, the gourd grows poorly, but the excessive humidity of the soil is also unfavorable to the growth, and it is easy to produce root rot.

The ornamental gourd is a cucurbit genus of the cucurbitaceae. It is native to the tropics and is only used for ornamental purposes. It cannot be eaten. The fruit is gourd-shaped or has a long slender upper handle. The lower part looks like a round ball. The skin color is mainly green and white. The old mature fruit is hard, very cute, and has high ornamental and artistic value. It is one of the main varieties for the development of tourism and tourism agriculture. In 2000, the vegetable garden in Hangzhou began to introduce ornamental gourds and filter out crane heads, long handles, swans, Dabing Dan, Qian Chengbing Dan, Ben Qian Cheng Bing Dan, Xiao Hulu, waist gourds, round gourds, calf gourds and pears. There are 15 species of ornamental gourd planted in suitable protected areas such as hoist, gourd, Changle, and line gourd.
