Fuel pump maintenance and maintenance 10 elements
The fuel injection pump is often referred to as the "heart" of the diesel engine, making its proper maintenance essential for optimal performance and longevity. When installing the fuel injection pump into the engine, it's crucial to check and adjust the fuel timing angle. After the engine has been in operation for 500 hours, this adjustment should be rechecked to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Always use high-quality, nationally certified light diesel oil, and make sure to let it settle for 48 to 96 hours before use to allow impurities to precipitate. Regularly clean the diesel tank and the fuel filter to prevent contamination and clogging. It's also important to inspect the oil level in the governor daily and top it up when necessary.
If there is a skeleton seal between the fuel injection pump and the governor, ensure that engine oil is properly filled in the designated area. If you notice an increase in oil level due to dilution, it may indicate serious internal leaks in the fuel injection pump or the oil pump, and immediate inspection and repair are required.
After 100 hours of engine operation, change the oil and clean the oil pump filter to maintain system cleanliness. Never disassemble or adjust the fuel injection pump without proper knowledge, especially if it has sealed components. If maintenance is required, always follow the correct procedures and ensure the pump is properly cleaned before reassembly.
After every 2000 hours of operation, the fuel injection pump should be fully dismantled, inspected, and any worn or damaged parts replaced or repaired before being put back into service. When a locomotive is not in use for an extended period, fill the fuel injection pump’s oil gallery with diesel oil. Before removing the pump, add anti-rust oil to the oil passages and store it in a dry, safe location. Avoid storing it near batteries, acids, or alkalis. If the pump needs to be reassembled, remove any rust first and ensure it is properly lubricated before use.
