Dairy cows should add buffer

First, the benefits of adding buffer

The first is to improve the feed intake of dairy cows and increase and stabilize milk production.

The second is to maintain the hydrogen ion concentration in the rumen, intestinal contents and body fluids of cattle, and to maintain the pH of the rumen in the range of 6.2 to 6.8 (in this range, the rumen has the best digestive function). The effective breeding of bacteria in the rumen.

The third is to dilute the rumen fluid and increase the outflow velocity of rumen fluid. At the same time, it increases the concentration of acetic acid, increases the ratio of acetic acid and propionic acid, and further increases the milk fat percentage.

The fourth is to effectively prevent ruminal acidosis, improve disease resistance, and promote the health of cattle. Grass ash is a good nutritional additive for dairy cows and can significantly increase milk production after consumption. The author's experiment using grass ash as a buffering agent showed that adding 3.5% of plant ash to the diet of dairy cows after delivery compared with the control group, the feed intake and milk production were increased by 10% and 13% respectively, and the incidence of gastrointestinal tract was obvious. cut back.

Second, the application of buffer conditions

Buffers are required to meet the following conditions:

1. High-yielding dairy cows at the beginning of lactation;

2. When the concentrate in the diet accounts for 50% to 60%;

3, long-term feeding silage, or coarse material is almost all bad residue feed;

4. In the early stage of lactation, its diet is again high-precision, high-dregs feed, and the quality of the coarse material is poor;

5. The appetite of milking cows in summer is reduced, and dry matter intake is significantly reduced;

6. When the milk fat rate of regular milk produced in lactating herds declines significantly;

7. When the lactating cattle diet is converted from coarse material type to fine material type (60% of concentrate material and 40% of coarse material).

Third, the amount of buffer

1, the amount of sodium bicarbonate: According to the dry matter intake of dietary food is calculated as 0.7% to 1.5%; calculated by the fine material is 1.4% to 3%. The amount of sodium carbonate (food base) is exactly the same as sodium bicarbonate (baking soda).

2. The amount of magnesium oxide used: 0.2% to 0.4% of the dry matter weight of the diet; or 2 to 3 parts of sodium bicarbonate mixed with 1 part of magnesium oxide, and the amount thereof is 0.6% to 0.8% of the dry matter of the diet; Or the amount of fine material 1.6% to 2.6%.

3. The amount of expanded soil: 0.6% to 0.8% of the total dry matter of the diet; or 1.2% to 1.6% of the amount of the concentrate.

4. The amount of plant ash: 2% to 3% of the total dry matter of the diet or 3% to 4% of the amount of the concentrate.

5. For high-yielding dairy cows with a daily milk output of more than 30 kg, add sodium bicarbonate and add additional magnesium oxide or bentonite.
