How to raise broilers in hot season

In the past, some farms and specialized households producing broiler chickens have been afraid to keep them in the summer. Because summer chickens tend to produce strong heat stress, resulting in decreased appetite, reduced feed intake, poor disease resistance, and increased mortality, fear of more than gain. In fact, as long as you take it seriously, feeding and management can keep up, not only to keep good, but the cost is not high. In order to raise broilers and eliminate the adverse effects of heat stress, eight measures must be taken.
1. Make a good summer cooling. The most important thing for raising broilers in the summer is to do a good job of cooling the sun. First of all, it is better to ventilate the interior of the house. The doors and windows that can be opened can be fully opened, but barbed wire must be added to the doors and windows to prevent the damage of animals. Secondly, the provision of shading equipment along the walls of doors and windows is conducive to the distribution of hot air, avoiding direct sunlight and preventing thunderstorms from invading. If conditions permit, use wind power at noon, and it is best to keep the room temperature below 28°C in the summer to facilitate chicken growth.
2. Select the appropriate density. 1 to 2 weeks old 30 to 25/m2; 3 to 4 weeks old 25 to 15/m2; 5 weeks old to slaughter 15 to 10/m2. It is advisable to use 300 animals per group. Groups and groups are separated by fences to facilitate the circulation of air in the houses.
3. Skillfully adjust the diet structure. Tests have shown that when the temperature is above 25°C, the feed intake of chickens decreases by 1.6% for each 1°C increase in temperature and the feed utilization rate decreases. Therefore, dietary nutrition and composition should be adjusted appropriately so that the diet maintains an appropriate level of nutrition to compensate for the lack of nutrient intake caused by high temperature stress. In order to meet the growth and development needs of broilers and achieve the desired weight, protein levels can be increased by 10% to 15% in the diet, and vegetable protein can be used instead of animal protein to reduce the gut feeling of the chicken and increase the content of multidimensional elements in the diet. At the same time, you can use granular feeds to increase palatability and increase feed intake, thereby increasing the total nutrient intake of chickens. In summer, the appetite of the chicken is weakened, and when it is hot at noon, it can be fed with green and juicy feed such as watermelon rind, roots, and green vegetables. It is both thirst-quenching and cooling, which is beneficial to the rest of the chicken. In order to increase the feed intake of chickens, low-calcium feeds can be fed, and bone pellets and shell pellets can be added separately to allow chickens to feed freely; in addition, safe and effective flavoring agents can also be used.
4. Change the feeding method. In the hot summer months, night feeding can be used. From 10:00 to 6:00 the next morning is the coolest time, which is conducive to chicken feeding, while during the day the chicken is allowed to rest. The method is: appropriate lighting light, increase excitability, feeding 4 to 5 times at night, and through the vibration barrel, drive the flock to keep the chicken's strong appetite.
5. Add stress medication. In order to avoid or reduce the stress response of broilers caused by high temperature and other factors, some drugs with preventive and therapeutic effects may be added to feed or drinking water. If chlorpromazine is added with 0.1% sedative in feed, it can reduce basal metabolism and heat production of broilers, which helps to maintain heat balance and increase feed conversion rate and weight gain rate. Adding 0.25% citric acid to feed can buffer blood alkali in broilers. The harm caused by sex can increase the daily weight gain of broilers under heat stress. Adding 0.05% aspirin to feed can significantly reduce heat stress and improve production performance. According to information, the addition of yeast chromium or chromium pyridine to the feed also has the effect of improving the performance and immunity of the broiler under high temperature conditions. In addition, some Chinese herbal medicines such as honeysuckle, chrysanthemum, dandelion, etc. can also be used that have heat-clearing, detoxifying, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, or immune-enhancing functions.
6. Provide plenty of water. Drinking water for a long time on hot days will affect broiler growth. Therefore, to set up enough water tanks, the water temperature should be kept at about 10°C. In the dog days, every day from 10 am to 5 pm, change the water every 2 hours, wash and sterilize drinking water appliances once a day to ensure adequate supply of clean drinking water. To keep the water inside and outside the house open, the house is clean and dry.
7. Add green material properly. It is more important to raise broilers in the summer when broilers are reared. It is especially important to use wet materials to feed chickens. It should also pay attention to whether the feed is corrupt or deteriorating. It is strictly forbidden to feed deteriorating feeds. Mix now. If dry powder is fed during the summer season, due to the high temperature, the chickens may have poor taste. They may feed more succulent feed and green feed, so as to increase appetite and supplement vitamins. However, the amount of feed must not exceed 1 /3.
8. Do a good job of disease prevention. We must do a good job in environmental sanitation, eliminate mosquito breeding places, reduce the number of infectious diseases, clean the food troughs regularly, and regularly disinfect the chickens to ensure their health. To use dry, clean, hygroscopic, non-toxic, non-irritating, mildew-free loose bedding, such as sawdust, rice husk, etc.; bedding must be kept dry, soft, it is necessary to regularly sieve the feces, and diligence, diligence Change so that there is no bad smell. If the humidity in the house is too high, water in the body will be inhibited from spreading, affecting the metabolism, making it easy for the bacteria to reproduce, inducing disease, and ensuring the healthy growth of the flock. Strictly implement the health and epidemic prevention system and vaccinate them according to immunization procedures. Do their best to maintain the sanitation of the house and disinfect it at least once a week. Pay attention to the use of drugs that are less harmful to chickens and eliminate pests such as mosquitoes and flies in time. Strengthen the observation of chickens, pay attention to the mental state of the flock, behavior, feeding conditions and fecal form, and take appropriate measures in time when abnormalities are found.
