China's Seed Industry Recaps

On March 6, the Institute of Crops of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, together with Beijing Deyang Seed Industry Co., Ltd., and Shanxi Tunyu Seed Industry Science and Technology Co., Ltd., signed an agreement in Beijing to jointly establish a joint venture of Zhongnao Huayu Seed Co., Ltd. The company aims to achieve breakthroughs in creating a new mechanism for corn commercial breeding. Li Jiayang, deputy minister of agriculture and director of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, emphasized that this cooperation should be actively explored through mechanisms, through mechanism innovation, breaking through institutional barriers, exploring a new mode of commercial breeding suited to China’s national conditions, and achieving mutual benefits and win-win results. In order to fully enhance the competitiveness of China's national seed industry, promote the long-term and stable development of China's agricultural production and ensure food security to make new and greater contributions.

Li Jiayang pointed out that at present, China's seed industry is still in the primary development stage, and there is still room for improvement in the scientific and technological innovation capability, industrial concentration, and market competitiveness of seed enterprises, making full use of various favorable conditions and accelerating innovation in seed industry science and technology. Promoting the development of modern seed industry is a very urgent and arduous task before us. The cooperation between enterprises and enterprises and the establishment of a new model combining production, education and research are effective ways to promote the development of a modern commercial breeding system.
