These colorful bracts remain vibrant and do not fade easily, making them ideal for ornamental use. The actual flowers are small, yellow-green in color, and appear during early summer.

This plant thrives in warm, humid, and partially shaded environments. It can be propagated through seeds or vegetative methods, best done in early spring. When grown in pots, it prefers well-drained, fertile loam soil. During the growing season, it requires consistent watering. In summer, providing partial shade is essential to prevent leaf burn. In winter, if kept indoors, it should be placed in a greenhouse where night temperatures do not drop below 10°C.
